SUNDAY 15-11-20:::
TENPIN stretched his winning run to seven with a performance befitting a hot ante-post favourite with a near-faultless display in heat five of the Ladbrokes Kent Derby over 480m at Central Park on Sunday, writes Jonathan Kay.
David Mullins’ star was sent off 3-10 and those who played as short odds were always on very good terms with themselves after he pinged from two and quickly raced clear.
In fairness to Antigua Boy, he chased hard and did edge gradually closer but could do no better than keep the winning margin down to three and a half lengths behind the 29.21sec winner.
Reigning champion Forest Alan (29.58sec) got his title defence off to a winning start when leading from halfway in heat four, completing a double for his trainer Seamus Cahill who had taken heat two with Coconut Comrades (29.85sec).
Patrick Janssens landed a one-two in heat three with his East Anglian Derby champion Kilara Lion holding off strong-running kennelmate Lenson Whelan by a length in 29.50sec.
The opening heat went to Steve Rayner’s Night Time Hero who collared early leader Swift Lettuce at the third bend and went on to beat Blue Jig Red by just over a length in 29.70sec, with Allison Kelly-Pilgrim’s Deanridge Rapid shading Mister Brentford in the finale in 29.60sec.
*The draw for Sunday’s Kent Derby semi-finals will be made at the GBGB on Monday.
Perhaps the run of the night came in heat three of a 480m when Janssens’ Bockos Belly made a winning British debut by fully 12 lengths in a best-of-night 29.17sec despite missing the break.
Other heats went to Paul Young’s Feora Max (29.32sec) and John Mullins’ Massive Ego (29.85sec) with Young’s Bubbly Cristal landing the final of a novice stayers’ competition over 642m in 40.75sec.

TENPIN was majestic once again as the hot outright favourite booked his place in the Ladbrokes Kent Derby final with ease, writes Jonathan Kay of the Racing Post.....
David Mullins’ star made it seven wins in a row when showing his rivals a clean pair of heels in the second semi over 480m at Central Park on Sunday, going on to beat Lenson Whelan by three and a half lengths in 28.72sec (-20) with reigning champion Forest Alan missing out on a qualifying position by a short-head in third.
There was also a Mullins winner of the opening semi when David’s brother John scored with Swift Lettuce.
A best-of-round 3.15sec sectional saw him quickly take charge and he dug in when it mattered to hold off Kilara Lion by half a length in 29.01sec with Night Time Hero close up in third.
Semi-final three was another to be won from the front with Sam West’s Ballynabee Lucky pinging from three and going on to beat Darth Vader by just over a length in 29.00sec.
**The draw for Sunday’s final will be made at the GBGB on Monday.
