Land is precious and worth more than gold at the moment in manchester and will be for the next 10 years. Unfortunately belle vue will not be saved and I don't think Andy Burnham will have any say whatsoever regarding the outcome of the planning for the belle vue site because there is to much money to be had by all parties and the deal is done. The council are seeing pound signs in respect of the revenue that will be achieved by the development compared with what they get from belle vue. Cash is king and unless you have cash you carnt rule.

I find it hard to belive, with the uncertinty of britex, a pension fund would sell a asset that provides a regular income for it`s members, what would make sense build appartment blocks either side of the track, keep the track and tie a company in for x amount of years..
