In addition, ARC have submitted a formal expression of interest in hosting the Greyhound Derby at Nottingham in 2021. If successful, it will be the third year that the competition has been held at the venue.
Greyhound Operations Director at ARC, Rachel Corden said, “2020 has been an unprecedently difficult year for everyone involved in our sport. We recognize the impact that behind closed doors racing has had on owners and trainers, especially in respect of open racing.
“As we fast approach the end of the year, we thought it appropriate to confirm our open race plans across the group for 2021, and hope that it will offer further confidence regarding our Classics for owners and trainers as they look at their plans for the year ahead.
“Equally, we very much appreciate the relaxation of restrictions on spectators returning to live sporting events. Whilst all of our stadia currently sit within Tier 3 areas, we will continue to liaise with our Local Authorities and get our plans in place so that we can safely welcome people back onto our stadia as soon as they are permitted.”

This will also assist the Committee and other tracks with scheduling using these competitions and the Derby as foundations. “We are pleased that ARC and Swindon have responded so promptly and shown their commitment to these Classic races.” Rachel Corden, Greyhound Operations Director for ARC, said: “We are looking forward to staging another great St Leger competition at Perry Barr this year and are totally committed to the open race events we announced in November.” GBGB are now asking all tracks to submit details for their ‘established events’ (i.e. those that took place at the track in 2020 or 2019). These events will be announced once they have been organised into a cohesive schedule. Tracks will then be requested to submit any new events for 2021, which GBGB will incorporate into the schedule wherever possible and will aim to publish a list of races for 2021 by mid-February. From Wednesday February 3rd, Sky Sports Racing will add to its existing programming evening racing from a selection of greyhound stadia, offering live HD pictures, seven days a week. The schedule at launch will consist of Nottingham (Monday and Friday), Sheffield (Tuesday and Saturday), Newcastle (Wednesday and Thursday) and Swindon (Sunday).
Sky Sports Racing is available in roughly 14 million homes on the Sky and Virgin Media platforms in UK and Ireland.
Mark Kingston, Director of Media Technology and Production at ARC said, “Sky Sports Racing coverage is great news for greyhound racing. We are delighted to work with the team at At The Races to expand significantly on the amount of live greyhound racing that the channel will broadcast and offer the sport a hugely valuable home for mainstream coverage, seven days a week.

Good job that Rachel Corden recognized that 2020 was a very difficult year so shut our track down. She recognizes the impact of behind closed doors racing is having, settle for a bit of behind closed doors racing at Belle Vue ? Her and her husband have done a sterling job ??
