I suppose to be successful at the open racing game, you need to be able to source top class dogs on a permanent basis.unless you have very deep pockets its nigh on impossible to be recognised. you NEED to have a statement dog or two now and again. in this area, there are a number of good class competent trainers.charlie lynch,Julie Bateson, our own brian thompson, June maccombe, pat rosney, john walton,Kathy harris and many others of which Ernie is one. Sunday would be a good and ideal way of .end of bags go into introducing open racing. maybe only a couple or so to get it established.then see if it progresses. it would utilise an underused stadium.Sunday dinners ,tote etc etc.endless possibilities. .WHY IS IT ONLY SKINT PEOPLE GET THE BEST IDEAS.

Unfortunately Benny, when the track are struggling to get sponsorship for some of the biggest competitions in the calendar, I don't think they'll be in a rush to introduce such an initiative as this- for all as you say it would be a breath of fresh air to liven up some mundane BAGS cards
Apologies for hijacking the thread, but it would give a dog such as yours Jimmy a nice opportunity aside from tricky A1's

Doncaster are on Bags tonight and they are putting opens on , not bad they get £ 1,000 per race and pay out £ 300
Net profit £ 700 , not bad business if you can get it . Only reason not to put opens on is they can pay out less for A9 etc
I think its a great idea Benny , will certainly get more people through the gates and keep the bookies awake !!

Really pleased with our new greyhound SURPRISE VOTE this evening up at Doncaster.
Next Wednesday he will be racing over the 483m trip it will be a big test for him but we feel the standard trip at Doncaster will suit him much better..
