Good to see another 12 {19:40-22:25} races on this coming Saturday evenings race card down at the ZOO. With no less than 11 greyhounds on debut. But on the negative side there is already 3 of those horrible vacant traps to contend with. Here's hoping no more greyhounds become unavailable on the night.

it's no wonder that there are vacant traps at bv. first of all, people get very dissolutioned by the fact that [in our case] that we provide lots of dogs just to make up numbers. when out and out open race dogs are masquerading as graders the other participants will tell you that there is no joy in making up the numbers. if open type dogs present an unbalanced picture then why risk injury utter defeat and a desolate feeling of inadequacy, by all means, have your top dogs taking part in these races.but also STOP the gravy train for certain individuals and grow some. the party will it seems soon be over so if the building scare is defeated things will get harder. it certainly doesn't pay to have a range of graders across all levels. about 18 months ago I was told we would have fewer winners. let me ask how is that FAIR.

OUR SISTER TRACK Perry Barr Stadium are due to stage a Greyhound Sales this month..
Should the Belle Vue Stadium management team be thinking along those lines ?

I think the racing manager should be making sure that every trainer gets a small slice of what seems to be a diminishing piece of cake,some kennels are on 25% and you would think that they would be happy but alas it appears not, they want even more.
And as for a greyhound sale at B/V who in the present climate would buy a dog to run there ??

But on the subject of buying new greyhounds as an owner / trainer you have to keep going at this time nothing has changed we are still racing 3 meetings a week and here's hoping we can keep going and survive but we are not daft we can see the vultures {Other tracks} flying above they have been there for the last 3/4 years awaiting to pounce..
It's a well known fact that Sheffield Stadium would love to be racing on a Wednesday afternoon my old friend John Gilburn hinted that to me a very long time ago, sadly JG is no longer with us.
On the subject of a greyhound sale i feel it would be a good idea to stage one at the ZOO because at most sales the majority of the dogs bought do end up at other venues but with a bit of luck it make create a bit of interest for our owners and trainers to buy some new blood.
The future of the ZOO is up and down at this time but for the time being we are still racing and that's all that matters to me if i'm honest.

I have a sneaky feeling will we have a full compliment on our Saturday evening race card this coming weekend
What with there being some extra BGRF prize-money up for grabs {Or I Am Being A Wee Bit Flippant?}
Anyway we have 12 BGRF funded races on Saturday with extra dosh which will be very welcomed by all our owners and trainers.
So here's hoping our racing office team can put on a very competitive race card and hopefully all of our trainers will be represented on the night.
