Seamus lived next door to another great old dog man Sammy Dawson on the cobbled street just before the fly over. Great families and lovely people , Sammy had all the latest technology to treat dogs and was a very knowledgeable dog man , spent many an hour there with me dad. Another great character and gambler was a guy called Barry Haslam , sold carpets on the markets , again another lovely family. Always late when picking you up but luckily always had a new fast car , dog was dizzy when you got there. Did us a great job one night with a cracking white and black bitch we had at Bolton. He called it Wayward Queen. First race new dog race off the back , 4/1 down to big odds on , won half of the track , we were on B O C bridge cheering , wow wish we could have those days back I would go tomorrow. Great Track Bolton and the North West hub of Greyhound racing .

I can remember when Darren Hampson used to go to Chesterton with a lad named Joules. He used to race dogs here occasionally. Also Jill Llewellyn, Ronnie Cross who used to drive the hare and on one occasion the Mccombes off Belle Vue took a dog on and it won Β£1000 classic. Darren asked me if I would be interested in doing a job at Chesterton with a decent black dog I had, he knew I didn't really like stopping them even if it was for just a trial. He came up with a deviously cunning plan. He took his A9er for a sprint ,( traps on far right) as the dog came off, I was making my way over with my daughter and the good dog, as we passed Darren dropped the lead and my daughter grabbed it and he took dogs lead off me, he then went over to the grader positioned near the finish line and marked my fellow up. I had to explain to my daughter that Darren's dog loved racing and it wanted another go. Anyways like most things that I have done wrong in life, karma struck. But that is another storyπππ

Benny was a country mile better at naming dogs than anyone.
Noble lox, earwgo onmebike, earwigo onmehonda,Humphrey rice, Humphrey rissole to name but a few.
I used to love it when he got a new dog and the PC brigade used to say how can you call a dog that?

the track I believe, where you went through the yard was I think Potterton .and the track was Warwick.and we wnt with norman evans.who sold goods on the entrance at bolton. and lyndsey schofield .who he married they moved to ireland.[ john scofield was lyndseys dad he went everywhere with her,nobody on here would remember john.he did all the tracks ,but died many years ago.. NORMAN bought a house from seamus es relative.seamus went to bolton a nice guy from originally enniscorthy. had a lot of dogs.a big ,tall chap seamus.,lived just outside the track. anybody remember him. I remember Seamus Masterson and his wife Ann very well.
Norma Evans was a good dog man.. Before he remarried to Lyndsey he lived near Agecroft Fire Station.
Lyndsey sponsored a graded race one night at Bolton over 980 yards i remember it very very we won it with our bitch Carols Glory. This race was worth Β£100 + Trophy.
Carols Glory also ran at Belle Vue under her NGRC name Betty Ditty {Trained by Mr Eric Howarth}
