I WOULDNT like you all to think that was made up by myself. it was a copy off some old notes i found in one of our drawers. it just seemed to fit into the thread of the good old days.but pleased some of you liked it.ty but having read the post above again.tvs we used to sit outside our neighbours and they had a tv about 1950 it was small as mentioned,we used to watch IN TOWN TONIGHT..AND THE NEWS, WE COULDNT HERE IT BUT THAT NEVER BOTHERED US AT ALL. more of us got tvs when the queen got crowned.some of them had crowds in there front rooms. happy days.values seemed more real.

going back to the theme of the G O Days, anyone remembers JOHNNY GOFF.he bred a litter of 9 fawn pups, and they weren't the greatest but johnny had great ideas for them.somebody complained about the time he was taking in trials, well he set into them, I think they rued the comments they had made he was like a man possessed.and he chased two young fellas out of Bolton.him and bridie went back to Ireland around Thurles way. when the pope visited Heaton park, we had a pitch opposite at jerry harris pub it was biblical .we never sold a packet of crisps. the beef burgers came alive having gone off. we saw them crawling across the car park we went into the park the atmosphere was very sombre like in a huge church. we saw johnny Goff.we crept behind where he was sitting and said get down on your knees now and repent..it didn't go down to well there was nearly a riot in the park.we did have a laugh after but it was touch and go.

Remember him bringing half a dozen of them to trial at Oldham and me and my dad holding a couple each at the traps as they waited to run. They were barmy, barking their heads off and having a go at one another. "Don't worry" said Goughy "I'll let you know when I'm trying". A month or so later he had two winners, backed off the boards, and though we both fancied them put me and my dad off the pair of them. Needless to say he was never offered any further help !

yes, he could be a tight ars- remember we sent a dog to Brighton.he had won a decent staying race at bv the cock of the north.he had also been beat a sh in a big race at Shawfield. ballygalda brave. we sent him down with two wa---- and I gave them £200 and said get the best price. he won comfortably.at 10/1 .so theres me thinking id got two grand.when they came back he said we got4s without the fav .never again. I was a bit peeved, to say the least.so I sent him to a northern island trainer.it was a shadow of when we had it and it never ran well again. but it taught me a golden lesson .never use a trainer someone else recommends.unless you know them. the troubles were on in Ireland and they tried to shoot him with a machine gun down his back alley..pity they missed.
