I remember having a bitch that had lost interest sent it to bammy he said I will put it in that paddock at the back plenty of rabbits there in a morning got it back after a couple of weeks and he said put it out this weekend and get it backed flew out and won by 4 length must have been bammys magical rabbits

I'll make this story as short as possible,in the early 80s I trained a big red brute of a dog for a well known local character from Bolton named Buddy Ayegan.I marked the dog up at Chester and he was out the following Saturday in the 2 box off scratch giving 2 to the 3 and 4 and 4 to the 5 dog. I rang Buddy and said do you want to leave it this Saturday and wait, he replied f#ck it let it go and I'll see you there. It was in the 2nd race and my friends wife took it on and the books opened 5/2 I was looking everywhere but no sign of buddy , dog goes out to 3s I'm thinking any second now still nothing anyway as doge being loaded my friend and I had a ton each on at 3s. The traps opened and he cought the 3 dogs in front at the 1st bend and scattered them going on to win easy. As I'm cleaning the dog off Buddy comes through the turnstiles with his entourage and a grand in his pocket asked him what had happened he told me they had stopped and asked directions to the race track and they were directed to the horse racing track and by the time they realised it was to late, no mobiles or sat navs then, I laughed my head off but he wasn't a happy happy.

I remember that chap Buddy he lived over the road from the old Bolton Dog track.
He thought he was a bit of a jack-the-lad back in the day not everybody's cup of tea for sure but i had no problems with him.
Great story John all the same.

this thread reminds me of dave Walsh.he still runs at Sheffield and only a few weeks ago reminded us of this particular race.
it was a very cold night and a bigish woman all dressed up to the nines and stood next to me at Oldham track. all the women were commenting on her and everyone she looked at she winked.
brian Pugh said who the f--- that I said I don't know.
then there was a race and this dog blew in backed of the boards.
we then went to the carpark and this women was changing.
it was only walshy, laughing and he said .he was banned a couple of weeks before so he had come to get his revenge.
and he sure did.
plus a few more weeks later he came back dressed as a paki and did the same again.more later.

A medium sized track with a very long run to the bend for all distances other than 590m. No significant trap bias over the standard 470m trip but the inside traps are favoured in Sprints and Wide runners disadvantaged in 590m races which start very close to bend.
