...ARC Confirms Closure Of Belle Vue Greyhound Stadium... 01 August 2020 www.arenaracingcompany.co.uk/media-centre/news/greyhounds/arc-confirms-closure-of-belle-vue-greyhound-stadiumArena Racing Company (βARCβ) can today confirm the outcome of a consultation process regarding Belle Vue Greyhound Stadium. The decision has been made that there is no longer a business case to support the ongoing operation of the Stadium and employees of the site will be made redundant.
As a stadium that relies heavily on attendance, catering and hospitality, the national lockdown has had a particularly negative effect on Belle Vue, with racing behind closed doors simply unable to sustain the business.
The significant uncertainty over the return of crowds to live sporting venues means that, despite exploring every avenue, there is no choice but to confirm closure.
Director of ARCβs Racing Division, Mark Spincer, said, βThe closure of Belle Vue Greyhound Stadium has been an incredibly difficult one to make, especially given the history associated with the Stadium, but our consultation on options moving forward could not see a manner in which the business could support itself.
βAs stated previously, the effects of the national lockdown, alongside the significant uncertainty over when, and in what manner, crowds may be able to return has had a huge impact on Belle Vue in particular, given its reliance on public attendance.β
βWe will continue to provide welfare support payments to the remaining Belle Vue trainers, not currently racing at other stadia, until the end of September, and assist with any homing requirements during that time.
βIt goes without saying that we are very grateful to all of the staff at Belle Vue and everyone associated to the site for their hard work and loyalty over the years and throughout this process.β

Belle Vue, the UK's oldest greyhound track, will not reopen...Arc confirms closure of Belle VueBY JONATHAN KAY12:55PM 1 AUG 2020THE worst fears of greyhound racing fans have been confirmed with the announcement by Arena Racing Company (Arc) that Belle Vue is to be permanently closed.
Regarded as the home of greyhound racing, having launched the sport in the UK in 1926, Belle Vue has been under threat of redevelopment for many years with planning permission granted last December for residential properties on the site.
It returned from lockdown with two meetings in early June before Arc suspended racing at the venue and promptly announced a consultation process over its long-term future.
That process has now completed and an Arc press release yesterday confirmed: βThe decision has been made that there is no longer a business case to support the ongoing operation of the stadium and employees of the site will be made redundant.
βAs a stadium that relies heavily on attendance, catering and hospitality, the national lockdown has had a particularly negative effect on Belle Vue, with racing behind closed doors simply unable to sustain the business.

A sad, sad day. Asking as someone whoβs been out of the loop for a bit now. What happens next?
Is there any other interested parties willing to take it on or will it be houses?

Feltham, all his cronies and ARC should hang their heads in shame - they have between them totally destroyed what could have been the best greyhound track in the country in the right hands and a gold mine for anyone willing to invest in it. My thoughts are with the staff, some of whom have worked there for decades - I truly hope your next employer treats you better than this bunch as you all deserve that much.
A very sad day indeed.

All the best to the staff, All the best to the friends I have made over the years, suppose the ending was inevitable, we had our pants took down by Feltham and his lot, followed by arc who we thought were the knights in shining armour, who turned out to be white washed tin men. Lets hope someone with the money see`s the attraction of greyhound racing continuing in the northwest....thank`s for the memories...que song james..
