Tonight, Fabulous Freda from Fleetwood has a free timer.
Race 2 Grade A8 Time 28.79
Backers of Clough Legend, 3s to 5/2, had good reason to feel sorry for themselves after the dog ran a blinder to get within 1/2L of a big time finder who got a Stewards. Clough turned third and ran on well. Redley Rooster, 7/2 to 5/2, had turned third following a missed break but checked badly near the third bend and finished lame.
Race 4 Grade A5 Time 28.60
Baby Blue Hawk, 5/4 to 4/7, finished second to the dog his backers were hoping would not lead but did. Hawk made a poor start but still managed to turn in third place. He made progress to the third bend but appeared reluctant to take the rails round the last two bends and coming off the last bend was in two minds about whether to try to pass the leader on the inside or outside. By the time he'd made up his mind the leader had found his stride and he does get the trip well.
Race 5 Grade S4 Time 36.50
Sup Lolls surprisingly backed from 5s to 4s following what appeared last week to be the performance of a non-stayer managed to lead the bend with Redley Ruby, 5/2 to 2s, in pursuit. Ruby led at the fifth and that seemed to be that until Lolls came back for more in the closing stages and just failed to get up. She ran like a stayer this week......next week who knows?
Shut Up Monkey, backed at 7/4, got the BIG E at the bend and her chance went at that point. She eased at the fifth when making some progress and finished fourth. Her supporters need the check out her wins to races ratio.
Race 6 Grade A7 Time 28.43
Punters decided that the winner of this Final would come from fastest of the last week's two heats and supported Grandads Ha Ha, 7/4 to 6/4, and Tyrur Nani, 5s to 7/2. Well, they were nearly correct! The winner in fact was the dog who came third last week beaten by 7 1/2L but who this week, drawn closer to the rails which he appears to covet, won in spectacular style making the two market movers look positively pedestrian. Ha Ha finished fourth and Nani finished third.
Race 7 Grade A6 Time 28.88
An X certificate performance from Pennys Joe, backed at 11/4 but who drifted to 3s following money for Honeypot Lane, 11/4 to 9/4. Had the former's unprovoked assault on the white sheet after exiting traps taken place outside the greyhound stadium then the dog's owners might well have been charged under the Dangerous Dogs Act.
As it was Joe was summarily disqualified. Honeypot suffered a bit after exiting traps but showed a nice bit of early to just lead the bend until baulked at the second bend and dropped back quickly to finish fifth.
Race 8 Grade A3 Time 28.07
Strawberry Hall, backed at 3s, trapped half decent and his excellent early took him into a decisive lead by the second bend. Lakeland Joe, 7/2 to 3s, made a slow start before racing up into third place. However, he lost his place between bends three and four before fading to finish fifth.
Race 9 Grade A4 Time 28.48
Boherash Mia, 3s to 6/4, trapped well and made all. Emporio Wren, 7/2 to 5/2, could only turn in fourth place and finished third thanks to the unfit Josies Tornado, 7s to 6s, fading back to fourth on the run in after turning third dog.
Race 10 Grade A4 Time 28.56
Ardera Brett, 5s to 7/2, showed nice early to lead the bend only to find Redstone Borvo, 9/4 to 7/4, in pursuit. Brett stuck his neck out on the run to hold on by a sh from the staying on Borvo though it needs to be said that had the white sheet got a run at the last bend or on the run in she would have annexed the prize. Kappie, 3s to 2s, missed the break and was on the floor at the second bend.
Race 11 Grade A1 Time 27.92
Judys Bloom, 7/2 to 3s trapped the best and then left Watch Dave, backed at 11/10, for dead on the run to the bend. She made all with Dave finishing third after the red sheet got inside him at the third bend. Moyar Rambler, 9/2 to 4s, started slowly, raced up well and was baulked at the first turn before being forcd to check at the second. He finished last.
Race 12 Grade S2 Time 36.20
A huge bump at the bend saw Pennys Option, 7/2 to 10/11, effectively put out of the race though he did stay on well for fourth place. Glenvale Louis, 7/2 to 9/4, was at the centre of the trouble after being forced to check badly and then was badly bumped also. He finished last.
