Cartwright, you were correct in putting up these two dogs as dogs to avoid backing at the moment and events have proved you to be correct. However, I think you called for Talk Now to be dropped in grade before she would win and that is where we have disagreed. How could the Racing Office drop a bitch who has recorded the sort of times Talk Now had in recent weeks down to A9? On its card on Wednesday the bitch on her last five runs recorded between 29.00 and 29.10 on four occasions and she had failed to lead on all five occasions. We saw what she can do on Wednesday when she led and I'm sure that she would lead 90% of races in A9.

Tonight, showery with heavy going. A noisy crowd. The Jackpot is carried forward.
Race 1 Grade A7 Time 29.89 Redstone Bo Dhu, 2s to 7/4, turned in fourth place after missing the break and finished fifth.
Race 2 Grade A8 Time 29.77 Thornfield Rita, 7/4 to 6/4, found herself in fifth place at the second after missing the break and running very wide. She kept on well to finish third.
Race 3 Grade A7 Time 29.60 Honeypot Lane, 6/4 to 5/4, won the first race of his career and the style of it suggests that there are more to come. After a slow start he paced up well to lead between bends one and two and quicken clear at the second bend. His winning distance was reduced to 3/4L at the line thanks to the runner up being extremely well suited by a clear run and the heavy going.
Race 4 Grade S4 Time 38.03 Dacent Amy, 4s to 3s, found herself in the rear at the second bend following a slow start and a first bend crowd. She kept on well to finish fifth beaten less than 2L.
Race 6 Grade A6 Time 29.50 This looked a fairly easy test for El Groove hence her price, 4/5 to 4/6, and she trapped clear and made all. Says Your Man, 6s to 9/2, made a slow start, never got going and finished last.
Race 7 Grade A3 Time 29.48 Redstone Borvo, 9/2 to 4s, started slowly and turned in fourth before staying on well for second.
Race 8 Grade A5 Time 29.63 This looked a match between Crunchie Sophia, 5/2 to 9/4, and Whistle Mouse, backed late from 7/4 to 5/4. Sophia trapped best and won without having a rival breathing down her neck at any point largely thanks to the crash, bang, wallop at the first which saw off the chance of Mouse who finished last.
Race 9 Grade S3 Time 38.10 No excuse for Mist Over Pendle, backed at 9/4 who. following a slow start, led the bend until collared near the line. Redley Ruby, 5/2 to 2s, had turned in third but was crowded at the third bend and then at the fifth before finishing last.
Race 10 Grade A4 Timne 29.59 Kelmar Holly, 7/4 to 6/4, was never at the races following a slow start. She did turn in third place but was bumped at the third bend and finished fourth. Rhoden Zip, 3s to 11/4, who has an 'awkward run in' comment on her card was lucky not to have this repeated here in Precious' opinion. After a slow start she turned in fourth place and was crowded on the run in. She finished fifth.
Race 11 Grade A1 Time 28.83 Watch Dave, backed at 5/2, found the two dogs on his inner starting better and he raced to the corner in third place. After enjoying a clear run round the first two bends when his rivals didn't he squirted clear at the second bend and won well. Borna Consent, backed at evens, started slowly, was bumped on the run up and again at the third when not a factor. He finished last.

Today, Sunday BAGS. No weight sheets . Heavy going. Michaelangelo has a three timer. No Office representation and all market moves were Betfair inspired unless stated. Race 1 Grade A7 Time 30.12 Tuesdays Gift, 3s to 9/4, quickly led and had a decent lead by the second bend but was passed easily enough by the red sheet at the third bend but then kept on well to get up on the line. Race 2 Grade A4 Time 29.42 Taylors Sea, 3s to 2s, turned second and led on the run in as the long time leader ran out of puff. Race 3 Grade A6 Time 29.60 Hug the Rails, 5s to 9/2, finished an anonymous fifth. She missed the break and was back in fifth place at the second bend. Crowding on the run in delayed her arrival at the line only slightly. Race 4 Grade A2 Time 29.56 A very competitive final in the Owners Series. Karlow Pearl was backed with cash from 6s to 5s but the badly drawn bitch met aggro on the run up and at the first bend before finishing fourth. Swift Crown, 3s to 5/2, ran an inspired race last time but a poor start put the mockers on his chances here. He was last at the second bend where he was forced to check back and he failed to improve his placing by the time the line arrived. Race 9 Grade A4 Time 29.20 Black Rock was backed with cash at 4s and then Betfair support cut his price to 9/4 at the off. He led the bend and was clear at halfway with plenty of buffeting behind him. The runner up produced a strong run from the third bend which gave the impression that Rock was tying up on the run in but the winning time suggests otherwise. Race 10 Grade A8 Time 29.94 Clough Legend, 6/4 to evens, appeared to have been given an easy task here. Think Manchester United's usual sort of draw in the qualifying stages of the Champions League . And we all know what can happen in that, don't we , so Legend was no certainty . He trapped best and strode to the bend to take up third place behind a couple of early paced widish runners, a situation sure to come in helpful later in the race when manouverability and overtaking come to the fore and Legend is not the brightest button in the box when it comes to overtaking . No problemo today though! He led off the last bend and won well. Rosario Girl, 9/2 to 4s, couldn't go the early pace and turned in fifth place before keeping on grimly to finish third. Race 11 Grade A3 Time 29.11 Whanbamthankumam, 3s to 11/4, led the bend following a slow start but only retained her lead to the third bend where she was brushed aside, crowded and finished last.

Today BAGS. Better going. The Great Thompsoni and Paulo Gregsoni, Italian nobleman, have three timers. Trigger happy bookies whose eyes were glued to the Betfair market. All moves except where stated were inspired by this betting medium.
Race 1 Grade A8 Time 29.25 Ballymac Edward, 6s to 9/2, returned to form here. After a slow start, he enjoyed a clear on the rails at the first, turned in second and led near the third. He's better than A8 when right. Lissycasey Mick, 11/4 to 9/4 finished third after missing the break and being crowded at the first bend.
Race 2 Grade A6 Time 29.15 Sing Along Boss, 5/2 to 7/4, led at the third after turning in second place following a slow start. The winning margin reflected crowding at the third which involved Berkshire Gold, 5s to 4s, who turned third dog. She was not making progress when bumped at the third bend before finishing fifth.
Race 3 Grade A5 Time 28.96 Betfair support for McIlhatton was vigorously topped up by the Offices to get the price down to 5/4 from the opening show of 5/2. Following a slow start he turned in fourth place before keeping on well for second place without quite showing the power he showed last time. Sup Lolls, 3s to 5/2, also started slowly and after turning in fifth place found herself last dog at halfway. She stayed on from the third to secure third place.
Race 4 Grade A4 Time 28.68 Jorjen Jak, 9/4 to 7/4, led from the first to the last bend where Kelmar Holly, 3s to 11/4, took the lead for a clear win with Jak finishing second. Holly had turned in second place.
Race 5 Grade A2 Time 28.79 Glideaway Hi, 5/2 to 7/4, led from traps until halfway where he was passed by Noirs Michelle, 4s to 9/4, who had turned in second place following a missed break. Michelle held the lead from Hi at the third bend where Hi ran very wide and the race looked in the bag until she was caught on the line by the running on winner. Hi finished third.
Race 6 Grade A5 Time 28.96 Strike Bound, 11/4 to 5/2, was back in fourth place at the second bend and effectively beat when she was badly baulked. She finished fifth.
Race 7 Grade A3 Time 28.73 Drombanna Cookie, 11/4 to 9/4, finished third after holding second place from the bend to the run in following a missed break. There was cash support for Express Trish, 6s to5s, who missed the break and was walloped at the bend. She finished last.
Race 8 Grade A4 Time 28.93 Parsons Beauty, 7/2 to 5/2, took up second place from the bend and led at the last bend before increasing her advantage to the line.
Race 9 Grade A2 Time 28.70 Extra lines tonight for Big Gud, 3s to 6/4, following Betfair and Office support. Once again his trapping deficiencies let him down and he looked in trouble when crowded at the second bend. He finished fourth. Come along Andy, do the necessary! 'I must trap better. I must trap better'
Race 10 Grade A8 Time 29.45 A poor effort from the cash supported Chatoms Gift, 9/2 to 3s who took a lead on the run up which increased to between two to three lengths at the second bend when her two closest pursuers tangled between bends one and two. As the race progressed down the back she was gradually caught until passed coming into the fourth bend and crowded. She finished fifth. Captain Cook, backed by the Offices from 5/2 to 6/4, made a poor start as did the winner and by the second the Captain was back in fifth. That he finished second beaten by only 1 1/4L is a testament to the slow time of the race.
Market movers returns for next Wednesday's BAGS.
