A track which had been harrowed and salted in the morning meant heavy going for the BAGS meeting today. Michaelangelo has a three timer.

Race 1 Grade A7 Time 29.89
Betfair support for Jogon Clyde, 3s to 11/4, who made a slow start, paced up well and after a first bend crowd turned in second place until one paced from the third bend. He finished fifth. 

Race 4 Grade A3 Time 29.30
Rhoden Free, 5/2 to 7/4 following a Betfair move, trapped on terms  and turned a handy second but couldn't quite match the pace inside him of the winner. He kept on well for second place.

Race 5 Grade A6 Time 29.81
Betfair support for Lisnakill Joanna, 5/2 to 7/4, who won with a bit more in hand than the official margin after switching twice on the run in. She turned in fourth place before moving into second place at the third before finding a finishing kick which proved too strong for the early leader. She reminded Precious of Phil Bennett for a brief moment .

Race 6 Grade A5 Time 29.60
Support on Betfair for both Sing Along Boss at 7/2 and Tyrur Pique, 7/2 to 11/4. Pique started slowest of the six runners before racing up well to lead between bends one and two squeezing up the quick starting leader in the process. He strode out well for a comfortable win made easier by his not running excessively wide at the second bend. How do they train them to do that?  Sing Along started slowly and turned in third place before finishing a well beaten third.

Race 7 Grade A7 Time 29.79
Emerson Strider couldn't match the early pace of a couple of rivals and turned in third place before finishing an every chance third. There was Betfair support for her from 3s to 5/2.

Race 9 Grade A2 Time 29.36
Betfair support for the well graded but badly drawn Leggy Tiger, 7/2 to 11/4 who suffered a rough ride round the first bend. Despite this he turned in third place and looked a possible winner but once the blue sheet quickened into the lead at the third Leggy was caught a bit flatfooted and when the accelerating white sheet got inside him at the last bend Tiger was sent tumbling to the floor. Ouch!

Race 10 Grade A6 Time 29.49
Despite being supported by Mr Betfair from 4s to 7/2, Tyrur Hayes underlined that he is not in the best of form at the moment. After missing the break he was last dog to the bend but after missing a crowd at the first and then trouble caused by the blue sheet stumbling at the second Hayed appeared in second place a good distance behind the improved leader at the second bend. Hayes was a well beaten and one paced third at the line.

Race 11 Grade A3 Time 28.95
A clash of cash with support for Rhoden Rio, 3s to 5/2, and Soft Spot, 3s to 2s, who had dropped a kilo for this. Spot trapped marginally in front and was in the lead at the first bend before stretching his winning margin to over 10L at the line and a change in the going allowance avoided an 'Hello, Hello, Hello. What have we here then?' welcome from the Paddock Steward.  Rio absolutely fell out of traps. He paced up well to the bend, moved middle where he was held slightly before showing impressive pace to the third where he eased badly and finished fourth.

Race 12 Grade A8 Time 29.86
Office money for Highview Torrent, 4s to 3s, who started slowly and was knocked over at the first bend.

Race 13 Grade A2 Time 29.21
Janes Oasis had cash support from 5/2 to 2s, before showing the best early to secure a lead on the run up. His backers were grateful for the clear advantage he had going to the third since he was fading near the finish and was all out to hold on at the line from Efceeunited. Efceeunited, supported by Mr Betfair from 4s to 3s, has started slowly and was only fourth off the second bend but he ran on to finish a very close second.

Race 1 Grade A9 Time 29.51
Lingrawn Lass, 3s to 2s, arrived at the bend adjacent to the blue and white sheets and when the latter two came together Lass slipped into a lead she held to the line.

Race 2 Grade A5 Time 29.01
Two Badgers, backed at 4s, challenged for the lead from the second bend and made a decisive move at the last. Adamant Achilles, 9/4 to 5/4, made his usual slow start and after a first bend bump turned in fourth place before running on to finish third after making up plenty of ground. Kilkenny Henry, 5s to 4s. held third place from the bend to the last and finished fourth.

Race 3 Grade A8 Time 29.59
Grandad Rummy, 3s to 11/4, held the inside at the bend from Kilcarrig Oyster, 6/4 to 11/8, and led. He went a couple of lengths clear at the second but allowed Oyster to get handy from the third bend to the fourth by easing off the gas. He was clearly waiting again on the run in and allowed the eventual winner to sneak past on his blind side near the line. He's got previous for this sort of behaviour and is a likely future candidate for the chain gang. Oyster finished third and Hillview Stacey, 9/2 to 4s, finished in fourth place after turning third dog.

Race 4 Grade S2 Time 36.62
'Never look a gift horse in the mouth!' and June didn't here with her Nite Runner generously graded. Backed from 6/4 to 4/6, he quickly led and always had the race in the bag.

Race 5 Grade A2 Time 28.59
Jacksaledge, 7/4 to 6/4, trapped best and put in his fastest spurt to the first bend to date to lead and look the likely winner. However, he found Home Sizzler, 7/2 to 3s, in pursuit and when the bitch moved up for a challenge approaching the third she proved too strong for the favourite leading at the last bend and not only winning but also putting in her best performance for some time in the process. Jacks finished third. and arguably ran up to the form he's been showing of late. Paddy the Pricer, backed at 5/2, started slowly and found major trouble at the first bend. He turned last dog and finished last.

Race 6 Grade A7 Time 29.01
Aiming to Win was supported at 2s but was 9/4 at the off following money for Millroad Spark, 5/2 to 2s. Win trapped clear and led until running wide at the last bend but once he straightend up off the bend he ran on to win nicely. Spark started slowly and after a biff at the first and then a biff at the second finished last.

Race 7 Grade S1 Time 36.37
The winner here is a bit of a hit and miss dog and he was on a hit day here leading at the second bend before routing the opposition which included Kittys Memory, 4s to 2s, who failed to trap well and turned in fourth place. She was crowded at the fourth and kept on to finish third. Glenvale Louis, backed at 7/2, was handy from bend one to bend two and held second place to near the sough. He weakened from the fifth and finished fifth.

Race 8 Grade A6 Time 29.05
A difference of opinion in the market with both Lubagh Eel, 3s to 2s, and Winetavern Kevin, 3s to 11/8, well backed. There was some late money for Honeypot Lane, 4s to 7/2, also. The Eel trapped fast and nearly managed a make all until caught near the line finishing second yet again. Kevin finished fifth following a missed break and a first bend biff. Lane made a slow start and after moving off at the bend was bumped. She finished fourth.

Race 9 Grade A2 Time 28.87
The result decimated the Jackpot leaving only three tickets running onto the fourth leg. Strangely enough the two market movers Morning All, 4s to 5/2, and Up Granard, 7/4 to 5/4 were at the head of affairs at the second bend which must have encouraged those grasping their Jackpot tickets to their chest. Granard had led on the run up only to find the slow starting Morning alongside him by the second bend. The two dogs raced together to the third where many expected Morning All to go on but rounding the last two bends it became apparent that Morning All had no intention of doing so and this allowed the unfancied winner to rocket past the pair for an easy win. Morning All finished third and Up Granard fourth.

Race 10 Grade A3 Time 28.83
Kelmar Holly, backed at 7/2, took the lead at the second bend after turning handy. Tyrur Hegarty was again well backed here this time from 4s to 2s. He again made a slow start and after a bump at the bend finished last.

Race 11 Grade A1 Time 28.89
Monagea Lodge, 2s to 7/4, made a slow start and after a slight skirmish at the bend turned in fourth place before running on to finish a creditable second. Louis the First, 9/4 to 6/4, was crowded slightly on the run up before turning third dog. He held that placing to halfway and finished  third after the early leader faded from the last bend.

Race 13 Grade A4 Time 28.73
Jorjen Jak, 5/4 to 10/11, trapped best and made all quickening clear off the second bend.
