Try my best to get to the track when our syndicate dog is running; this includes the Sunday BAGS meeting. Watching the dog run at the bookie's is not quite the same as being at the track but is an alternative if i cannot get there.

The extra BAGs meeting has definitely affected my attendance. I used to take the missus into the restaurant at least once a month, when a dog was running, but she hasn't been since Christmas - saved me a fortune! Hats off to those who go the the BAGs meetings, but I find there's more atmosphere in the bookies and it avoids a two hour round trip.

To get the most out of watching your dog you have to attend the track. On one occasion when it was snowing heavily I walked down to a local bookmaker to watch the BAGS meeting. The first race was shown twice on the screens. The second race, because it clashed with a horserace, was shown in a small box in the left corner of the screen and there was no replay. To make matters worse there was no announcement that the race was about to be off and I missed the first 60 yards of the race. The reception at the bookmakers was then lost because of the snow on the aerial . At the track on the BAGS you see the race on the screens and then two, sometimes three, replays.

Prior to the introduction of the Sunday bags, you had a one in three or four chance of being on the bags. Now its a 50 50 chance. The point being you put the dog on BV knowing the chance it had of running on the bags prior to Sunday bags, it would be interesting to know how many owners new or old have placed a dog on BV since Sunday bags. Regarding the question people will always go to BV ....

Regarding the question people will always go to BV .... There's nothing wrong with BAGS meetings 'JC' the biggest problem at Belle Vue is that we have a morning and a afternoon meeting.
Things would be a whole lot different/better in my opinion if one of our BAGS meetings were staged at the evening like the ones at Sheffield and Nottingham.
At the end of the day there is nothing to stop the GRA from putting on another evening meeting at the ZOO but under the present climate I can't see that happening more's the pity.
Also shortly open racing is returning to the ZOO and it appears Saturday evenings look the likely night when these events will take place.
And like you say 'JC' people will always go to the ZOO after all Belle Vue is the only GBGB greyhound track in the North West Of England so they have the complete monopoly.

Bags are keeping greyhound racing going that is a fact, what I read into toes2k post was his dogs seem to run more often than not on the bags, as in deed do a lot of us find, If BV want to keep owners then is it not reasonable to have a your dog placed on some night meetings, BV know the owners, know the dogs they have, I think the only dog I have on BV is running about his 6 run on the trot on the bags..He must have now done his bit and I will look forward to watching him run at night during the month of May..

Crazy situation that 'geoffers'
The easy way round this situation is to give your chosen trainer a Wednesday off every now and then.
And come to think about it i see no reason why any of our trainers are required to attend 4 meetings each and every week, but of course that's another debatable topic i suppose for a later date.

I wouldnt miss Friday/ saturday at bv for the world..good people and great laughs..if I watched it on the computer that would be a step closer to taking the wife out.. Wednesday are a pain as I have to make up appointments so I can nip out of work to watch the dog run.
