Indeed Paul - it looks like he has benefited from having the "sun on his back" as they say.
Mick Howarth had told me that this dog had a good run in him but he was sunning himself in Bulgaria instead of looking after our financial wellbeing at Belle Vue. It's a pity he doesn't take it seriously enough - I could probably retire if he did.
Well done anyway.
Performance of the day though was surely Rock It Kathy who went round in 28.56 in the A8.

Today, BAGS. Big John has a three timer.
Race 1 Grade A5 Time 28.82 It must have been evident on the run up to the supporters of Tyrur Reggie, backed by the Offices from 2s to evens, that it wasn't going to be his day as he appeared to labour to the first bend and not lead as expected. He was held at the first but managed to turn in second place a position he could only hold to the third. Following a slight crowd at the fourth he finished fourth.
Race 2 Grade A4 Time 28.66 Dobbiethehouseelf, backed by the Offices from 9/2 to 3s, turned third to two early pacers. He eased slightly at the third before keeping on well to lead close to the line in what proved to be a closely graded contest.
Race 3 Grade A1 Time 27.90 Hits Our Busty, 2s to 7/4, was slightly crowded on the run up but the early pace of the two principals proved too much for him and he settled for third place after turning in fourth.
Race 4 Grade A3 Time 28.34 Followthe Master, supported by the Offices from 2s to 11/8, showed fine early to hold the bend from the quick starting white sheet, lead and comfortably hold on.
Race 5 Grade A4 Time 28.76 Tick Tock Tony, 11/4 to 9/4, missed the break and took a terrible clattering at the bend. He finished a well beaten third.
Race 6 Grade A8 Time 28.73 The winner started poorly before racing clear down the back as if on a motorcycle which was bad news for backers of Highview Chain, 5/2 to 9/4 through Office money, and Grandads Gold, 3s to 5/2. Chain missed the break and found herself fifth dog but improved to third by the time the line arrived. Gold finished a one paced fourth.
Race 7 Grade A2 Time 28.17 Shes Amazing, 5s to 9/2, trapped well and was handy at the first bend to the very early paced but short running leader. Amazing cannily kept up the gallop and the prize fell into her lap when the leader weakened on the run in.
Race 8 Grade A4 Time 28.37 Crunchie Sophia, backed by the Offices from 3s to 11/4, just led the bend and kept on to the line holding off Dotland Warrior, 5/2 to 9/4, who turned in second place following a poor start. Cracking King, 7/2 to 3s, made a slow start and took a bump at the bend before being forced to check at the third bend. He finished fifth.
Race 9 Grade A2 Time 28.37 Redley Rage, 3s to 6/4, found plenty of trouble in a major ruckus between bends one and two before finishing a well beaten third.
Race 11 Grade A7 Time 28.76 Dinn Re Bug, 5/2 to 9/4, was value for slightly more than a 1 1/4L win here. After leading the bend he was caught on his flank by the checking white sheet and lost about a length. Rock It Kathy, 5s to 9/2, was paceless to the bend and turned in last place. She stayed on to finish third.
Race 12 Grade A8 Time 28.98 The slow starting Cheshire Cat, 4s to 7/2, was hampered at the first bend and finished a well beaten fourth.
Race 13 Grade A6 Time 28.67 Tyrur Craig, backed by the Offices from 2s to 5/4, led the bend after being slightly crowded by the handy red sheet who checked badly leaving Craig with a decent lead at the second bend. Meanwhile the slow starting Bowtime Roz enjoyed a solo on the outside and turned second. She justified the support from 5s to 4s, by closing the gap on the favourite at the third and kept on well without looking like getting to the Craig on the run in.

Tonight, a sultry evening at the Zoo. The bowser went round before Race 7. A decent crowd.
Race 1 Grade A9 Time 29.26 Elusive Miss, 8/11 to 4/6, appeared to have a BIG chance here but made hard work of it. She turned second and gradually wore down the leader taking the lead on the run in.
Race 2 Grade A7 Time 29.07 Jogon Katie, 5s to 7/2, trapped well and led to the bend where the ungenuine winner took the lead. Katie must have thought she had a winning chance when challenging at the third and again on the run in but the winner, who looks Chain Gang material to Precious, was messing with her mind. Grandads Jet, 5/2 to 9/4, stayed on from fifth place at the second to grab third place on the line. He met trouble on the run to the bend which also didn't help the chance of Kersal Monet, 2s to 7/4, who was back in last place following further crowding at the bend. She was then forced to check at the third and finished fifth.
Race 3 Grade A6 Time 28.71 Kilcarrig Oyster, 11/8 to 5/4,was handy at the first turn but moved off and turned third dog. She took a winning lead at the third. McGahons Magic, 6s to 9/2, turned fourth and kept on well to finish third.
Race 5 Grade S3 Time 35.88 Efceerevolution, 4s to 3s, led at the second bend and comfortably held on for victory. Hug the Rails, 9/2 to 4s, could only turn in fourth place and was last dog by the third bend. She stayed at the back to the line.
Race 6 Grade A2 Time 28.19 The market suggested a two dog race but once Jacksaledge, 6/4 to 11/10, trapped fast and Rhoden Rio, 2s to 6/4, made his usual slow start it became a one dog race. Rio failed to improve his position to the corner where he took a crowd and turned in fifth place. He suffered further crowding at the third bend before keeping on well to finish third.
Race 7 Grade S1 Time 35.81 Chesters Hawkeye, backed at 11/8, turned second and led at the third holding off the running on second on the run in.
Race 8 Grade OR Time 35.88 Plenty of trouble in this event and Grease Scolari, 2s to 4/5, was forced to check badly at the first bend losing lengths in the process. He turned fifth dog before running on well to almost snatch second place on the line.
Race 9 Grade OR Time 27.64 Late money for Watch Dave, 5/2 to 9/4, who had a missed break compounded by a bump at traps. He was never in the race and finished fifth.
Race 10 Grade OR Time 35.59 An heroic performance from Tambourine Man, 6s to 7/2, who was crowded back to fourth place at the bend following a decent start. He made progress to move into second at the fifth bend before running on well to comfortably pass the leader on the run in. The time was decent. Round Woman, 4s to 7/2, ran well to finish third following a slow start. She managed to turn in second place a place she held to the fifth bend and kept on well to the line.
Race 11 Grade A1 Time 27.84 An impressive and deserved win by Messi Legend, backed at 3s, who trapped fast and made all. What impressed was the way he had very decent A1 performers struggling to get near him after they had every chance. Bourne Legacy, 2s to 5/4, made a slow start and turned in fourth place. He showed pace to the third and kept on well for second place. Six Pack Josh, 7/2 to 3s, ran his best race to date after turning third dog. He was passed at the third but kept on well to finish fourth.
Race 12 Grade A4 Time 28.14 The winner found 82 spots on his last grading trial in which he suffered a bump at the last bend. It must have been some bump! Its not a pup either. This presented problems for Kersal Leah, 3s to 11/8, who missed the break and turned in fifth place. She ran on well to almost snatch second place on the line.
