Race 9 Grade A2 Time 28.66 Plenty of cash support for Monagea Lodge, 9/4 to 6/4 and then the Offices joined in reducing the price to 5/4. She failed to show her A1 early here being led up by the blue sheeted stayer . She turned in second place and finished in that position.NO MENTION OF MONAGEA LODGE GETTING PLENTY OF BUMPING ON THE RUN TO THE FIRST TURN.
IF YOU GET CHANCE TO WATCH THE RACE AGAIN 'precious' WATCH HOW THE TRAP 6 RUNNER HES AMAZING MOVES ACROSS FROM THE START TO THE FIRST BEND, THUS HAMPERING MONAGEA LODGE...

Totally agree Norma - I actually went down to watch the racing this afternoon and it was even more apparent from trackside, although she's not 'pinging' the lids the way she was. Good run/time from the winner though.

IF YOU GET CHANCE TO WATCH THE RACE AGAIN 'precious' WATCH HOW THE TRAP 6 RUNNER HES AMAZING MOVES ACROSS FROM THE START TO THE FIRST BEND, THUS HAMPERING MONAGEA LODGE... Your comments surprise me, Norma. As did Seathwaite Cash leading at the first bend . First of all there is no mention of the bitch being crowded on the run up in the official race return. Secondly, whilst I'm prepared to accept that I might have missed the crowding which you saw take place, consider the remarks I made against each of the six greyhounds regarding their performances from the traps to the first bend. The sectionals for the race suggest that ALL six dogs made slow or poor starts so my comments try to reflect how I thought each dog trapped in relation to the others. Trap 1 Ardera Brett sa rails turned in fourth place Trap 2 Seathwaite Cash early pace led first bend Trap 3 Rhoden Rio vsa early pace forced to check m/w at first Trap 4 Monagea Lodge early pace handy first bend Trap 5 Fionas Fantasy missed break early pace crowded first Race 6 Hes Amazing missed break early pace handy/crowded first. My clear recollection of the race was that Traps 2 and 4 trapped together and in front of the other four. You may well be correct in stating that Monagea Lodge met trouble on the run up. However, given the class of the bitch, the class of her opponents, their relative early pace and the relatively good start she got I can't understand which greyhounds could have crowded her had she shown her early. I'll try and watch the replay on Friday.

Tonight, rain from Race 7 turning heavy. Race 1 Grade A8 Time 29.00 Darver Lily, 9/2 to 3s finished fifth. Race 2 Grade A7 Time 28.89 In a race where the quick starting red sheet was knocked over at the first bend Purmac Fiddler, 7/2 to 3s, missed the break and was involved in the trouble. She turned third and finished third. Race 3 Grade A4 Time 28.63 For a long way the quick starting white sheet appeared to have the measure of the well backed Celseclo, 9/4 to 4/5, who had turned in third place following a missed break. She made progress to move into second place near the third bend and then stayed on to lead approaching the line. Race 6 Grade A1 Time 28.11 Moyar Rambler, 6/4 to 4/5, led the bend following a missed break and was caught near the line by a winner who can surely run the track better than he showed here. Danielles Bell, 8s to 7s, finished a creditable third after trapping fast and leading to the first bend. Race 7 Grade A1 Time 28.01 The Eric dog, backed at 7/2, trapped marginally better than his market rival Watch Dave, 5/4 to 4/6, and then ran the bend much better securing a lead at the second bend which looked difficult to pull back. Dave ran on well from the third bend to get within a sh of Eric at the line. Race 8 Grade S3 Time 36.41 Grandads Rifle, 11/4 to 6/4, trapped best but took much too long to manoeuvre the bend and following a slight crowd at the second bend was back in third place at the 180 metres mark. He was crowded at the fifth and finished a close third. Race 10 Grade A5 Time 29.39 Rhoden Flicker, 2s to evens, started slowly as did a few of her rivals and then she didn't show the zip to the bend which her supporters expected. She was badly bumped at the bend, crowded at the third and finished last. Race 11 Grade A2 Time 28.35 With the black sheeted Rebellious Style, 9/2 to 4s, starting slowly and finding trouble at the traps Proud Darkie, 9/4 to 7/4, was able to move from Trap 5 to the middle on the run up showing excellent early pace in the process. He was never headed. Pottery Problem, backed at 3s, turned third and stayed on for second place. Style stayed on for third place. Race 12 Grade S1 Time 35.74 Chesters Hawkeye, 3s to 5/2, put in another excellent effort for nothing in a result which was a real eye opener. Following a poor start, Hawkeye enjoyed a solo round the first two bends turning third dog. He made progress to the fifth and stayed on well but was unable to quite get to the winner. Swift Crown, backed at 3s, made an equally poor start but didn't pick up the pace nearly as well as Hawkeye and was always in the rear of the field. He finished fifth. Antartica, 5/2 to 2s, may well have gone lame here. She trapped best and was crowded at the bend before checking at the third. She finished last.

Tonight, Big John has a three timer. Race 2 Grade A7 Time 29.05 Kilcarrig Oyster, 11/8 to 5/4, led the bend and comfortably held on for victory. Longwood Houdini showed plenty of improvement last time and was supported from 6s to 5s. He gave the winner a length and a half at traps, got a dream run at the bend to turn third and kept on well to finish second. Race 3 Grade A6 Time 29.05 Richly Deserved was backed at 7/4 but was available at 2s at the off where he trapped clear before leading almost to the line. The in form Milestone Mirage, 3s to 2s, turned fourth, made progress to the third and then ran on from there to get up near the line. Soul Is One, 7/2 to 3s, turned fifth and made progress to the third where her market rival got the better run. She stayed on for third place. Race 4 Grade A6 Time 28.85 Clonoulty Babe was always going to be up against it if the blue sheet flashed out which is what the latter did. Babe's attempts to lead to the bend were frustrated by being crowded on the run up and after a first bend ouch she turned in fifth place. Under the circumstances finishing second, albeit a well beaten second, was a decent effort. Race 5 Grade A7 Time 29.07 Support at 5/2 for Gentle Suarez (check out that oxymoron, Precious! ), who trapped well and was soon well clear thanks to his terrific early. He won well. Punters had weighed the plum draw of Grandads Ha Ha against his regular incompetent efforts and decided the former would override the latter . Big mistake! Backed from 2s to 7/4, he missed the break, showed moderate early and was crowded between bends one and two. He turned fourth dog and finished third thanks to a solo between bends three and four. Race 6 Grade A3 Time 27.99 We had the Grader providing the Great Thompsoni with the two market principals. Surely this sort of thing could and should be avoided. As it happens both dogs ran well. Darver Bo Bo, 5/2 to 5/4, trapped best and won easily. Race 7 Grade A4 Time 28.58 With the well backed Forza Keldon, 2s to 5/4, stumbling at traps on his way to finishing last it was the two other market movers, Baby Blue Hawk, 4s to 3s, and Tyrur Hegarty, 8s to 4s, who came out of the second bend in pursuit of the quick starting white sheet. Hawk took a slight lead from Hegarty approaching the third bend and given his stamina appeared to have the advantage. Hegarty had other ideas and quickened past Hawk on the run in in impressive style. Race 8 Grade A2 Time 28.23 A game effort from Shaneboy Echo, 7/4 to 6/4, who just failed to get up on the line after turning second dog behind a winner who doesn't often trap as well as he did here. Noirs Daz, 11/4 to 5/2, finished fourth following a poor start. He turned in fifth place and improved his position thanks to a nice bit of back straight pace. Race 10 Grade A4 Time 28.21 An impressive display from the winner Redstone Borvo, 3s to 5/2, to led on the run up. Pauls Robinho, 7/2 to 5/2, made a poor start before turning fourth dog. He stayed on to finish second. Kersal Korbie, 5s to 4s, finished last following a poor start and an ouch at the bend. Race 11 Grade S2 Time 36.56 Lady Legacy, 9/4 to 2s, finished fifth. She had led from the first to the second and was in a good position when inexplicably checking wide at the third and being bumped. Redstone Brenos, 3s to 11/4, made a very poor start and finished last. He was crowded at the third and never showed. Race 12 Grade A2 Time 28.41 The debutant Coonough Clodagh, backed from 3s to 5/2, looks a slow starting, strong running bitch who was bumped on the run in when trying to put some sort of challenge together. She had made a lot of ground up and finished third.

I only watched the race from home last night and in my opinion this bitch did not go into the first bend that well, perhaps there is something amiss with her ?

This bitch went really well in her qualifying trials and looks a real stayer in the making and I would imagine in order to win a 470m race she will need a drop in class.

Today, BAGS. Bev and Big John have three timers. Race 1 Grade A9 Time 29.29 An inexplicably moderate effort from Woodhall Jewel, 5/2 to 7/4, who appeared likely at one point to lead the bend. As it was she was still handy when commencing the first turn but by the second was well back in fifth place a placing she held to the line. Race 2 Grade A6 Time 28.66 Once Tyrur Berbatov, 7/4to 11/4, left the traps well in relation to most of the first he had no problem leading the bend and winning well. Race 4 Grade A3 Time 28.50 Active Quest, 9/2 to 4s, trapped best and made all. Farloe Hawk, 7/2 to 3s, made his usual poor start and was crowded wide at the second bend. Turning in fifth place he ran on to finish a close third. Race 5 Grade A4 Time 28.72 Chase the Bond, 5/2 to 7/4, made a poor start but compensated with his good early and was handy at the bend where he had to move wide to enjoy a clear run. He turned second at the second bend and quickened into the lead at halfway. Race 6 Grade A3 Time 28.55 Noirs Michelle, 5s to 4s, has a dismal record in the blue sheet and did nothing to rectify the matter here. She was slightly crowded on the run up but this alone fails to explain her turning in fifth place. She kept on to snatch third place on the line. Race 7 Grade A4 Time 28.88 Sugar Loaf, 9/2 to 4s, made a poor start before running on well to finish third. Tyrur Nani, 3s to 5/2, finished last after second bend crowding. Race 8 Grade A2 Time 28.19 A hot event in which Rhoden Rio was supported from 7s to 6s. He was very slow away, moved middle at the bend and was forced to check at the second bend. He finished fourth. race 10 Grade A7 Time 28.74 A poor race full of out of form runners or individuals of questionable fitness. Surprisingly three dogs were backed . Thornfield Marco, 11/4 to 5/2, led near the first bend and comfortably held on. Pea Diddy, 10s to 8s, held second place from the first bend to the line. Farran Blanc, 4s to 7/2, didn't run as poorly as last time but how could she possible manage that? ? After a slow start she finished fourth. Race 11 Grade A2 Time 28.36 Up Granard, 11/4 to 2s, led near the bend but had to settle for second when the quick starting red sheet went past him between bends three and four. Sunnyhill Boy, 3s to 5/2, started slowly and failed to show last time's bright early in this better grade. He finished fifth.

Today, BAGS. The track was bowsered after Race 7. The Great Thompsoni has a three timer. Wilbur's very own statistical anamoly does it again! Race 1 Grade A5 Time 28.92 Office money for Tyrur Kagawa, 9/4 to 6/4, who burst out of traps for a make all. Race 3 Grade A3 Time 28.40 Westmead Pilot, 6/4 to 5/4, trapped well with the red sheet, arrived at the bend with said bitch and then ran the bend the better to lead from the second bend until caught on the run in. He finished second. Race 4 Grade A4 Time 28.38 Karlow Pearl, 7/2 to 3s, led from near the first bend and won with some ease. Race 6 Grade A6 Time 28.63 All bar the winner made poor starts and it was Swords Tosh, 7/2 to 11/4, who turned in second place after railing well. He had quite a bit to do but seemed to be making relentless progress to the third bend but said progress slowed on the run in and he settled for second place. Race 7 Grade A7 Time 28.74 No excuses for Jogon Katie well backed on Betfair and then later supported by the Offices, 5/2 to 5/4. She led on the run up until looking one paced on the run in and finished a disappointing third. Fangin Feather, 7/2 to 3s, got out a bit better then usual and just took up second place from the second bend from which point she ran on well to beat the favourite with some ease. Race 8 Grade A5 Time 28.79 Tewmax Kim, 7/2 to 3s, never got into contention. Following a missed break she could only turn fourth after running wide at the second bend. She made no progress and finished fifth. Race 9 Grade A1 Time 28.08 In a race were decent starts were the exception Leggy Tiger, backed at 7/2, was jostled back to fourth place by the second bend from which point he kept on well to finish third. Tewmax Leejay, 7/2 to 11/4, stumbled at traps and came home last.

Wilbur's very own statistical anamoly does it again! Indeed I looked very closely at the stats before yesterday's meeting and noted that only 6 trap 1's had won from the last 5 meetings - 64 races - 9%. I then coupled that with the remarkable statistic that my very own Mcilhatton was having his 38th race in A4 and had not won any of his previous 37 in that grade. He was also clad in the dreaded red jacket so I was looking for a price of roughly 37 x 9, or 332/1. The best price I could find anywhere in the village was 7/2 but with loyalty being one of my strong points, I waded in with a reduced stake of £10 and the little fella didn't let me down, getting up right on the line. I'm now only £3,665 on backing him in this grade but the good news is that his record in A3 is an impressive 1 from 9 so the next win might not be that far away.

Tonight, the Great Thompsoni has a five timer.
Race 1 Grade A8 Time 29.10 Graces Dream, backed at 5/2, was handy at the bend after trapping well, checked at the second when in second place and had just about lost her place at the third when plenty of aggro saw Dream recover her third place albeit well behind the winner.
Race 3 Grade A7 Time 28.68 Blacks Mineola, 5/2 to 2s, briefly held second place at the second bend but by halfway he was in third a placing he remained attached to when the line arrived. Fionas Fury, 7/4 to 6/4, made a slow start and was crowded at this point. After showing some early she turned fourth dog and finished in that placing.
Race 4 Grade S4 Time 36.27 Sup Lolls, 6/4 to 4/6, failed to lead from traps and turned second to Hug the Rails, 7/2 to 3s. Rails led to the fifth were Lolls took up the running until caught on the run in by the winner who converted her recent good 470 metres form to 590 metres a distance over which she had performed moderately of late. Rails finished third and Lolls second .... again.
Race 5 Grade A6 Time 28.55 Clonoulty Babe, 6/4 to 5/4, showed the best pace to the bend after a decent start and won well.
Race 6 Grade A5 Time 28.68 Late money for Smiths Causeway, 5/2 to 9/4, who turned in second place a position she held until the last bend where the eventual second sneaked inside her. She kept on well to finish third.
Race 7 Grade A2 Time 28.19 Supporters of the quick starting Up Granard, 9/4 to 7/4, were left wondering just how far the dog has to race clear to win. Here he was well clear at halfway until caught on the run in by a dog who showed plenty of middle pace after a poor start. Granard did not help his cause by drifting off wide at the last bend.
Race 8 Grade A3 Time 28.14 Its been a long and winding road for Jacksaledge, 11/10 to 1/2, who has finally started to show the form his connections had hoped to see when he first arrived. Slightly out trapped by the white sheet he turned second before showing a nice turn of foot to lead on the rails at the third bend and win well.
Race 9 Grade A4 Time 28.34 Forza Keldon was backed early at 6/4 but was able to be backed much later from 2s to 7/4 thanks top the weight of support for Sugar Loaf, 8s to 3s. Georgias Hawk was also backed late at 3s. The Hawk ran the best turning in fourth place after getting no sort of run at the bend. He kept on well to finish second. Keldon had led the bend following a slow start and a solo at the turn and held the lead to the third bend before finishing third. Sugar Loaf made her usual poor start, turned in fifth place and was making decent progress when forced to check very wide at the last. She finished last.
Race 10 Grade A2 Time 28.16 Little Babe, 11/4 to 9/4, appears to have misplaced her early at the moment. Of course, failing to box well, is a contributing factor to this but the fact remains that there were quicker dogs to the bend here. She turned in fourth place and after third bend crowding finished fifth.
Race 11 Grade S1 Time 35.80 It may be significant that the excellent clock by Tibetan Breeze over this trip was a solo trial. Over 470 metres in A4 she gets badly outpaced to halfway and over this trip her opponents are good A2 dogs. Despite being backed from 5s to 7/2, it was no surprise to see her at the back of the field for most of the race and despite only being beaten 2l she could only finish fifth.
Race 12 Grade A1 Time 27.67 It seemed a bit odd that, after seeing Watch Dave well backed in recent weeks when running from disadvantageous traps, when he finally got a good draw in a trap in which he was unbeaten he drifted from 6/4 to 2s. He got a decent start and was soon in command winning in a flash time. There was late support for Moyar Rambler, 9/4 to 2s, who ruined his chance with a poor start. He was forced very wide at the second to avoid a faller and finished a well beaten third.
